MEKARN Conference 2010
The experiment was carried out at farms in Ninh Hai, Ninh Thuan, Vietnam from in 2009 to evaluate the effect of management practices on edible biomass production and nutritional composition of Ipomoea pes-caprae. The experiment was designed according to 2*2 factors of two different forms of cultivation of the creeper: on soil or on the frame; and two fertilizer supplements of 0 and 10 tonnes per ha. The edible biomass production of Ipomoea pes-caprae was higher in the treatment of planting creeper on soil with 20 tonnes manure compared to on the frame without manure (13.6 vs 8.1 tonnes dry matter/ha). The different fertilizer supplements also affected edible biomass production of Ipomoea pes-caprae, with higher biomass production for the treatment of supplementing 20 tonnes manure/ ha. The chemical composition of Ipomoea pes-caprae was not affected by different cultivation or amount of fertilizer supplement with 11% of dry matter and 20% CP on dry matter basis.
